Protea Glen is a Johannesburg township in South Africa’s Gauteng Province, north of Lenasia and west of Soweto. The suburb was built for middle-class inhabitants in the 1990s.
Protea Glen Mall, the town’s first shopping mall, opened in October 2012. There are also numerous schools such as the Basa Tutorial Institute, Faranani Primary School, and a Secondary School.
The R559 begins at Protea Glen, Soweto, at a crossroads with the R558 Road, slightly north of the R558’s intersection with the N12. It travels 17 kilometers north-west until intersecting with the R28 Road in Randfontein’s southern suburbs.
